Brehon Brewhouse

From the Milking Parlour to the Brewery Floor…

Located in Carrickmacross within the rural beauty of County Monaghan, Brehon Brewhouse was founded by dairy farmer Séamus McMahon who wanted to diversify his homestead. Taking inspiration from the wealth of literary and familial history in the area, Séamus and his wife Síobhan entered into the world of craft beer in 2014.

Join the McMahons on a truly engaging journey from the milking parlour to the brewery floor. A natural storyteller, Séamus shares insights into the history of the area and his ancestors who have lived and worked this land for over 300 years.

A Place That Connects Past And Present…

Enter the brewery where the air is filled with the intense aroma of the specially selected malts, while taking time to meet the master brewer and gain an insight into the workings of the brewery.

Wrapped up in stories of this wonderful heritage, the tour finishes with a visit to the original family home that is a pre-famine cottage (dated 1837). The cottage where Séamus was born is filled with photos and memorabilia including an old range and dresser that his grandmother once used. What an incredible opportunity to sample award-winning beers in a place that connects past and present.
